Aalborg, Denmark, 2 July 2025 – MissionGreenFuels’ Board of Directors has recently approved the funding of DKK 74 million to 12 research and development projects that aim to accelerate the development of green fuels and contribute to Denmark’s goal of reducing CO₂ emissions by 70% by 2030 and achieving climate neutrality by 2050.

The projects were selected through three open calls for funding: Pool 2.5, Pool 3 Solutions Call, and Pool 3 Booster Call, which together received 31 applications requesting more than DKK 160 million. The selected projects cover the entire value chain for green fuels – from technology development and production to end-use in aviation, maritime transport, and heavy-duty transport.

“It is clear that both interest and the ambition level are high. These 12 supported projects represent a vital part of the effort to mature technologies and solutions that can be deployed broadly across society,” says Carina Jensen, Partnership Director at MissionGreenFuels. “It is through collaboration across industry, research, and public authorities that we can create real change and ensure progress in the green transition.”

The selected projects address key barriers to the scaling and utilisation of green fuels and directly support the partnership’s roadmap and impact framework, which form the foundation for its strategic activities.

“It is crucial that we, as a partnership, help ensure that promising ideas and technologies do not stall on their way to market but are tested and demonstrated. There is a real need for this, and it is where we can make a significant difference. At the same time, we are seeing that the current geopolitical situation has increased the focus on green fuels, as they play a key role in reducing energy dependency and strengthening security of supply – both in Denmark and across Europe,” says Daniel Lux, Chairperson of MissionGreenFuels’ Board of Directors.

With the addition of the 12 new projects, MissionGreenFuels’ project portfolio now includes a total of 33 projects, supported with approximately DKK 225 million.

In August, MissionGreenFuels will launch another funding call, this time with a specific focus on transitioning some of the most challenging sectors – namely aviation and shipping. There will also be a strong emphasis on scaling up green fuel production, which is key to ensuring availability for the green transition and strengthening Denmark’s energy security and independence.
